Job Information

The fellowship aims to train endourologists in complex medical and surgical management of stone disease. Additionally, the fellowship is designed to train fellows to perform Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP). Under the direction of Program Director, Tim Large, MD, fellows will learn the comprehensive evaluation and medical management of stone disease.  The fellowship will provide substantial surgical experience in percutaneous renal access, advanced percutaneous and retrograde endoscopic techniques and BPH management including HoLEP. 

The fellowship includes research components, supported by faculty and the resources at the University of South Carolina Medical School - Prisma Health, to ensure a solid foundation in scholarly activity without overwhelming clinical training. By the end of the program, fellows will have the expertise to independently deliver expert-level endourological care to patients. The fellow will join a wonderful faculty with 11 providers and an oncology fellow in the beautiful city of Greensville, SC.

Case Mix

After completing a one-year fellowship, the graduate should be proficient in the following: Retrograde ureteroscopic stone treatment, percutaneous access with nephrolithotomy and holmium laser enucleation of the prostate. Typical case volumes across the medical system provided by participating faculty for the aforementioned procedures in a calendar year are as follows:

-Retrograde Ureteroscopic Stone Treatment: 200 cases

-Percutaneous Access with Nephrolithotomy: 120 cases

-Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate: 300 cases

How to Apply

All applicants must have successfully completed a five- or six-year accredited program in urology in North America. Applicants must be eligible for permanent physician licensure in the State of South Carolina.
