Job Information

Two Year Combined Endo-Stone/Laparoscopic Robotic Fellowship.

The fellowship consists on both surgery and research.

Kidney stone disease is fully covered including endourological (in-house external shockwave lithotripsy, flexible ureteroscopy (700 per year) and percutaneous nephrolithotomy), laparoscopic/robotic and open management of urinary stones. It also includes metabolic evaluation (in specific stone clinics) and laboratory stone analysis directed by Pr. Michel Daudon and Pr. Jean Philippe Haymann.

Our endourological expertise includes also the conservative treatment of upper and lower tract urothelial carcinoma using a wide range of laser technologies (Holmium:YAG, Thulium Fiber Laser and Thulium:YAG) and endoscopic enucleation of prostate.

Our current research activity focuses on laser application to stones and soft tissue (upper tract urothelial carcinoma) with Holmium:YAG, Thulium Fiber Laser, Thulium:YAG laser sources available locally, on artificial intelligence applied to urinary stones, segmentation of medical images (computed tomography), suction devices. Our lab is located both in Tenon Hospital and Pimm Lab at the “Arts et Métiers” national university, with full access to chemistry, material, laser bench and artificial intelligence platforms. We also conduct clinical trials in the field of endourology (2 ongoing prospective trials). Finally, a dedicated access to the biochemistry lab in Tenon is available, for metabolic research.

The robotic activity with access to the Da Vinci Xi robotic platform focuses on 2 fields :

  • Onco- urological procedures : total /partial nephrectomy, radical nephro-ureterectomy, radical prostatectomy
  • Functional urology procedures: female artificial urinary sphincter insertion and revision, sacrocolpopexy, cystectomy with intracorporeal ileal conduit in neurogenic patients, totally intracorporeal augmentation cystoplasty, synthetic mesh removal surgeries, vesicovaginal fistula, ureteral reimplantation,

In functional urology, other numerous fields are covered: male/ female stress urinary incontinence surgeries (sphincter, balloons, bulking agents, slings), vaginal surgery, sacral neuromodulation, continent urinary diversion, urodynamics etc.

Evaluations of clinical cases are discussed on a weekly basis within two types of multidisciplinary meetings - Neuro-Urology and non neurourology. These meetings involve urologists, gynecologists, rehab physicians, radiologists, pain killer team, colorectal surgeons.

Our current research focuses on the prospective evaluation of robotics in functional urology and neurourology with one national registry coordinated by Pr Phé involving several studies and one very large multicentric study including Paris Public Hospitals departments of all specialties  using the Da Vinci system.

We also conduct clinical trials in the field of functional urology including patient therapeutic education and innovative devices.

Please be aware that the department cannot provide a salary and that you should ensure your own funding.
