THE SMITH INSTITUTE FOR UROLOGY IS PLEASED TO OFFER AN ENDOUROLOGY FELLOWSHIP FOR ACADEMIC YEAR BEGINNING 7/1/2016 One position is open/available, either for a 2 year combined fellowship in lap/robotics-stone disease, or a 1 year position depending on candidate interests and qualifications ONLY CANDIDATES WHO ARE BOARD ELIGIBLE AND WITH US MEDICAL LICENSE WILL BE CONSIDERED
Our Endourology Fellows work with Drs. Kavoussi, Richstone, Okeke, Hoenig, and Smith for a complete endourology experience.
The Endourology Fellowship program is designed to train urologists with plans to pursue an academic career. The two-year program integrates clinical and research work in stone disease, urologic oncology, reconstructive surgery and ureteral strictures. The fellow will have attending privileges as junior staff/ clinical instructor appointments. Complex endourological, laparoscopic and robotic surgery will be taught.
Research projects encompassing basic science and clinical research work will be conducted in parallel with the clinical responsibilities. All fellows will work together on research projects; this arrangement facilitates exchange of ideas continually and ensures that various projects are completed within the appropriate time frame.
Objectives
- To develop sufficient skills in Endourological procedures such as percutaneous renal surgery, ureteroscopy, laparoscopy and image guided surgery.
- Learn fundamental techniques and principles to help develop the ability to write manuscripts and develop an academic career.
- Understand the fundamental principles, patient workup and management of patients undergoing Endourological procedures.
