The Endourology and Minimally Invasive Urological Surgery Fellowship Program offers a Clinical Certificate in the area of advanced robotics (Single-port/Multi-port) and BPH Disease (HoLEP, Aquablation), with an emphasis in minimally-invasive oncology (radical prostatectomy- anterior/posterior approach, single-port transvesical/extraperitoneal, partial nephrectomy). We have a total of 10 da Vinci robotic systems (6 Xi systems, 3 DV5 systems, and 1 single-port system) with 6 dual-consoles. ACGME-accredited Urology residency graduates only.

The Program Director for this fellowship is Dr. Ram A. Pathak, M.D.

This one-year fellowship program provides clinical experience with advanced robotic urologic oncology surgery (Prostate, Kidney, Bladder), reconstruction (Pyeloplasty, Re-implant, etc.), and BPH (HoLEP/Aquablation). You will graduate proficiently in the following surgeries and (case volumes for year 2024) :

  • Multi-port and single-port (TV/EP) robotic radical prostatectomy (326)
  • Multi-port and single-port robotic partial/radical nephrectomy (149)
  • Robotic cystectomy (47)
  • Robotic reconstruction (pyeloplasty/reimplant/etc.) (47)
  • BPH (HoLEP) (302)
  • BPH (Aquablation) (56)
  • Focal therapy (TULSA-PRO, HIFU, Cryotherapy) (62)
  • Transperineal fusion guided prostate biopsy
  • Advanced stone disease with supine combined RIRS/PCNL
  • US guided perc access

The fellowship can be tailored to your interests and future plans. The time commitment of the endourology one year program is 80% clinical with 20% research time. On average, you will have 2-3 days in the OR, 1-2 days in clinic and 0-1 days for dedicated admin/research. Fellows receive a junior faculty appointment at Mayo  Clinic. S/He is given an opportunity to present and participate at national or international meetings or both.
