The Endourology and Minimally Invasive Urological Surgery Fellowship Program offers a Clinical Certificate in the area of advanced robotics (Single-port/Multi-port) and BPH Disease (HoLEP, Aquablation), with an emphasis in minimally-invasive oncology (radical prostatectomy- anterior/posterior approach, single-port transvesical/extraperitoneal, partial nephrectomy). We have a total of 10 da Vinci robotic systems (6 Xi systems, 3 DV5 systems, and 1 single-port system) with 6 dual-consoles. ACGME-accredited Urology residency graduates only.
The Program Director for this fellowship is Dr. Ram A. Pathak, M.D.
This one-year fellowship program provides clinical experience with advanced robotic urologic oncology surgery (Prostate, Kidney, Bladder), reconstruction (Pyeloplasty, Re-implant, etc.), and BPH (HoLEP/Aquablation). You will graduate proficiently in the following surgeries and (case volumes for year 2024) :
- Multi-port and single-port (TV/EP) robotic radical prostatectomy (326)
- Multi-port and single-port robotic partial/radical nephrectomy (149)
- Robotic cystectomy (47)
- Robotic reconstruction (pyeloplasty/reimplant/etc.) (47)
- BPH (HoLEP) (302)
- BPH (Aquablation) (56)
- Focal therapy (TULSA-PRO, HIFU, Cryotherapy) (62)
- Transperineal fusion guided prostate biopsy
- Advanced stone disease with supine combined RIRS/PCNL
- US guided perc access
The fellowship can be tailored to your interests and future plans. The time commitment of the endourology one year program is 80% clinical with 20% research time. On average, you will have 2-3 days in the OR, 1-2 days in clinic and 0-1 days for dedicated admin/research. Fellows receive a junior faculty appointment at Mayo Clinic. S/He is given an opportunity to present and participate at national or international meetings or both.
Highlights of the program include:
- Mentor-based training with two-month rotations
- A department with state-of-the-art resources such as da Vinci Robotics, single-port robotics, MRI-ultrasound fusion biopsies, Holmium Laser Enucleation for BPH, MRI-guided focal HIFU for prostate cancer
- #1 Urology residency in Florida (Doximity 2024), #30 ranked Urology program US News (2024), #15 ranked World’s best specialized hospitals for Urology (Newsweek 2024)
- State of the art facilities with a fully equipped multidisciplinary simulation center
- Research infrastructure with dedicated biostatistician.
