We offer a one-year Clinical Certificate as part of the Minimally Invasive Urological Surgery Fellowship Program in the combined fields of Laparoscopy / Robotics and Stone Disease / Endourology. The fellow will be considered junior faculty but he or she will have emphasis on learning their subspecialty.  Three SIU urology faculty in the fellowship operate out of 4 hospitals with a total of 7 Xi robotic platforms and 4 simulators.  The main teaching hospital was the third hospital in the country to acquire the dual console technology in 2004. There is a wide breadth of both upper and lower urinary tract MIS cases performed in addition to numerous pure laparoscopy cases being done. Complex Ureteroscopy for all aspects of stone disease as well as a robust PCNL experience will be obtained by the fellow. All PCNL’s are Urologist directed. Contributing to your experience are two fellowship trained Endourologists and one dual fellowship trained expert in Oncology and MIS. We currently have both the Thulium laser fiber laser and the high powered Moses technology.

The SIU Center for Learning and Innovation is a very sophisticated and modern simulation laboratory that we utilize for urology skills’ labs and courses.  There is ample opportunity for academic productivity and research, publication and presentation is not only encouraged but required.
